I think our next book club should be The 7 Habits of Highly Successful People, or the 7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens (Jordan Rd. has many copies of it). Those who are interested in incorporating this into our schools' philosophy will join or read it on their own. Some more teachers may read it over the summer. The vocabulary and the rational of this Leader in Me theme has to be a part of the staff's lexicon and behavior before we attempt to engage our students in it. (I do believe we can train ourselves.) We could then form a teacher committee to oversee the initiation of it, perhaps in the fall. We can't load people up and overwhelm them; it creates resistance. Something worth doing is worth doing well, paced, thought out, and with 90% of those involved on-board. Slow and steady wins the race.
