We can’t overestimate the value of computers, iPods, and other various forms of technology. Yes, they are all great for playing games and forwarding funny emails, but isn't real work still done on paper?

Has any one heard of these new portable phones? I just bought one. This may be the best purchase I've ever made in my life because now I don’t have to stand guard outside my phone booth at the bus station waiting for calls. If someone needs to find me, they can just call my portable and, if I feel like it, I’ll pick up. Technology, man. It blows my mind.
Yeah Sean,
They are cool,,,,,I just wish they made them a little smaller, so I can put one in my pocket.

Hi Shawn: 4 big things have rocked my world this month regarding technology. We have to think differently about technology use in our classrooms, professional development, meetings, etc.
1) The Clay Shirky youtube with the media revolution discussion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_iN_QubRs0
2) The Clay Shirky youtubes on where do we find the time:
Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyoNHIl-QLQ
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNCblGv0zjU
3) The Pew Research Center Millennial Quiz at http://pewresearch.org/millennials/ to understand current teachers/students.
4) Article about legal writing in the computer age from a friend of mine who is a lawyer at the Texas Supreme Court: http://www.adjtlaw.com/assets/Dubose.21st%20century%20reader.pdf
Thanks Norma,

I watched the first YouTube. Clay is a great speaker, perfect rational perspective.. I'll watch the rest,

John - Wasn't his graphic & conversation about the media revolution - many to many - amazing and motivational? Have you taken the Millennium Quiz? I am really wondering how to help mathematics teachers use technology better and move our district out of the dark ages...NJ
Hi Norma,
The presentation was terrific.....But being a Nit Picker.....Can't help it.....The number of single communications within a group on a single topic is not the group number squared. It is (N X N-1) squared. Assuming that talking to ourselves, does not count!

JJC
Everyone always wants new things. Everybody likes new inventions, new technology. People will never be replaced by machines. In the end, life and business are about human connections. And technology may try to murder you. To me, the choice is easy.
