Travel Buddy

My split gr.3 & 4 class is looking for international classes to send Quackers - our travelling duck. Is anyone interested in being our travel buddy?

This is wonderful! I am so happy to find another class to send Quackers. Just send me a note when you get back and I will prepare Quackers for his flight to New Zeland. Have a great Christmas and a wonderful summer holiday.

Hi Gavin,

Quackers is on his way back to Canada from Scotland. As soon as he arrives I can send him out to New Zealand. He has his own travelling journal with him that the students can write in. They can also take photos and put that in his journal. The students can also take turns taking him home if they wish to do so. Do you have a travel buddy that you would like to send to us? I will also need your mailing address to send Quackers out. I do not know how long it will take for him to arrive in New Zealand. It took 15 days to get to Scotland.

Do you not have the same class as before Christmas? I am not sure how schooling is in New Zealand.

About 20 years ago we did a project called Travelmates. We sent about 30 stuffed bears around the world. It was such fun--the world (pre-internet) was a much bigger place then....the kids were amazed at what was going on around the world.

Hi Kim,

Thanks for responding to my request. Quackers is suppose to go to New Zealand for the month of February. Are you willing to receive him after he returns from New Zealand? This will probably be at the end of March or the first of April.

Hi Gavin,

Great! I will send Quackers out by Tuesday the latest. Our class will make estimates on how long it will take him to arrive in New Zealand, so please let us know as soon as he arrives. It took him 15 days to get to Scotland. We will also research a little on Auckland, New Zealand.
