Video Converter

Hi everyone.  I am looking for some inexpensive  ways to go from your computer to a TV.  The TVs we have do not have HDMI imports. 

Some places say I need a converter but I am pretty positive i just need to split the monitors signal and then get a plug that goes from the monitor to the back of the TV in the Audio Video Cables (red, white, and yellow).

If we all had Macs it would be so much easier!
