I teach high school health and am looking for an easy way for my students to make video Public Service Announcements about Mental Health that can be shared with the rest of the school.  In the past we have just used a video camera and played them in class.  Of course we had several takes, and it took forever.  Any ideas for easy editing programs or a better way to do these PSAs?

Hi!

I used iMovie for ours and then uploaded it to Vimeo for sharing on our blog.

Here's the PSA and blog post we made: http://willardwellness.blogspot.com/2011/11/turn-it-off-power-up.html

I am finding that including the community in some kind of small project related to the PSA can have an effect on the sharing. Something they can participate in and report back on. This was the idea behind our Get Outside project.

Many people are sharing photos from their phones about how they are trying this out. Maybe kids could post to an email address that you have for examples of how they are seeing or participating in the message your PSA sends out. I've tried linking these messages to collaborative Maps (showing locations where things are happening) and more.

Good luck. Have fun! and oh yeah, I also tell my students to keep videos short! makes for easy editing and more likely for people to watch!

Peace,

John
