Unfortunately, often times when studying molecular biology and genetics, the students have a difficult time understanding because you can’t see DNA or transcription and translation occurring. Thus by imbedding videos found on YouTube, this will enhance the students comprehension of these complex and microscopic processes.
The other way I would use digital media in my classroom is during the Introductory Unit for MYP 5/ 10th grade chemistry/ biology classes. One of our big emphases is on lab safety. It would be neat to have a slideshow of photos of different lab scenarios and students would have to tell me if the photo taken is safe or if anything is wrong/ unsafe in the situation and what should be done to remedy the situation.
