I'm looking for technology that will help me to manage feedback for student writing. I teach writing at the college level, and much of the feedback I give deals with sentence structure issues, punctuation, grammar, and so on. Because of this, I tend to give the same feedback over and over again. I've started to create a set of video tutorials (as well as to use those that already exist on YouTube or Studio4Learning) so that I can include a link in the feedback. My students use Microsoft Word, and on a couple of my computers, I've programmed the quick mark feature to insert these standard feedback blurbs. The problem with this is (as far as I can tell), is that I have to program quick notes at each computer where I might work. This is not terribly convenient; right off the top of my head, I can think of eight different computers that I might use to grade papers.
Also, I would like to have a program that could keep track of the feedback I give to each student; that way, I would not have to open all their old documents to see how (and if) they are progressing. I would love to find a Web 2.0 application that would allow me to create standard feedback blurbs, insert them into student documents from any location, and then let me generate reports for each of my students. Anyone know of any such technology?
