Hey out there,

I'm a high-school Latin teacher looking for effective Web 2.0 tools/resources for my classes. I use Quizlet for vocab and VoiceThread for translation review, but I wanted to see if there were any others out there that have been helpful. If anyone wants to know how I use Quizlet and VoiceThread, just ask.

Best,
Ed Turner

Man, I'm going to love to see what you get here... since I took Latin for several years myself. Do you know Chris Craft? He's a Web 2.0 guy and I *think* he teachers Latin and Spanish. http://www.classroom20.com/xn/detail/u_crafty184
Thanks Elizabeth. I'll be sure to check it out. Care to share any of the ideas you've used with success in your own classroom?

Best,
ET
Salve, I would love to learn more about how you use VoiceThread for translation review. Also, I'm interested in finding classes that might be interested in some collaborative activities. Depending on the students' level, possibly story telling or creative writing.
Steve Hargadon suggested I look you up. I look forward to hearing from you,

Salve, Danja,

Thanks for the reply. Check out this link to see how I use VoiceThreads. I use it merely for review. I have yet to make it a project/assignment for students. I plan on making it an assignment in the summer, when my class size is significantly smaller and each class longer.

I teach Latin I and Honors Latin I to 9th graders...perhaps collaborating on a story would be fun and valuable.

Vale,
Ed
We have a resident expert in this area on Fireside Learning: Laura Gibbs. She knows an immense amount about online resources for Latin, and creates a whole lot of high-level instructional materials herself.
Check it out:

Look for Laura, and ask her some questions. She'll guide you in many right directions!
Dead right Connie,
Laura has brilliant resources, splendidly adaptable, rich and relevant.
Salve! I run a dedicated Ning site for Classics pedagogy and technology over at http://eclassics.ning.com. We got our 1,000th official member yesterday! You will definitely get an answer to your question if you post there, too. There is a recent blog post on classroom Nings for Latin, and many teachers there have classroom blogs and have written about their experiences.
