We're Newbies! HELP!

Hello all,
We're a group of seventh grade English teachers just starting out in the blogging realm. We were wondering what ideas you have regarding the balanced literacy model and blogging. How do you utilize blogging as a classroom tool in the workshop model? We're in desperate need of great, fun ideas! Thanks to all, and can't wait to hear all of your wonderful ideas:)
