What is a good method of intervention?

I have a student who is struggling with reading comprehension. I was wondering if anyone had any good intervention methods I could use for thsi student. I have not done any interventions with this student yet.He is a 1st grade student who is the 50th precentile comapred to his peers. I'm trying to increase him to the 75th percentile by january.

What about having this student make an audio podcast about what they read? You could start with having him/her identify a few elements in the story and work up to retelling/summarizing? Then it could be shared with the rest of the class! Audacity is a free download, but it can also be done on PowerPoint if you want to incorporate some writing. I love to see you passion for this student!
