I am doing research on this topic. While I find hundreds of articles and books on the subject, I do not know who the pioneers or key authors on the subject are in the context. I need help identifying the most revered resources on the topic. When you think of implementing technology in schools, whose work first comes to mind?

Seymour Papert is often called "the father of educational technology." He's written several books and some of his work is collected here: http://www.papert.org/. Wikipedia article.

He was the driving force behind Maine's statewide laptop for schools program and many other US and world-wide initiatives to put the power of computers into children's hands.
