More and more schools are constantly turning towards 1:1 programs to enhance learning and move towards the 21st Century Classroom. Initially you saw a big implementation with Laptops or low cost Netbooks, but now it seems that many schools are pushing towards outfitting students with a tablet device such as the iPad, Nook, Kindle Fire, or Android Tablet.
What is your school seeing? What will be the new education standard for 1:1 programs? I am looking forward to hearing your comments.

I work in a school that has a cart of 20 iPads along with 5 iPads in each K-5 classroom. The iPad is a wonderful tool that engages learning, allows for creating many types of products to demonstrate understanding, and great for differentiated instruction. With that being said, there are still many things that an iPad can not do. Mostly because it does not run flash, but also because it was created as a personal device. There are many issues that arise from that. I don't see how iPads can replace a 1:1 laptop program until they can do everything that a laptop can do. BTW - I am from Maine where we have a 1:1 MacBook program 6-8 and soon to be 6-12. I included a video of how teachers/students at one of my schools are using iPads. We are doing some great things with them beyond just using Apps.
