Have posted pictures of 3D Memorial Projects created by 8th graders over at my profile page. Check out Learning From Lyrics FB Group; see wall for more lesson ideas and additional examples of student media projects. Also check info page for additional links and resources...
I will be teaching 8th grade Math after a few years of teaching Science. Been teaching for 14 years after 24 years in the AF. I love the MS mentality and enjoy watching the students learn even when they think they don't.
I had my students write their I Am Poem and then put each line on power point where they added pictures to reflect meaning. They each gave an oral presentation and we all enjoyed learning about each other. Wonderful! Every teacher should try it.
Hi My name is Mariam! I'm looking to incorporate more web 2.0 tools into the classroom next year. I used Quia.com last year and am planning in using Edmodo for assignment management. I also want to use glogster. I want to push for students to create their own PLNs, since the teacher really is becoming more and more a "guide on the side" rather than the captain in charge...? See what I mean: http://onceateacher.wordpress.com/2009/05/05/pln-your-personal-lear...
I'm very excited to be here and exchange ideas for a middle school LA classroom! I'm open to any and all ideas!

My name is Leon Avrech, retired middle school teacher, vice principal, principal, and mentor teacher in San Jose CA. I recently had a book published which is an enormous help to new teachers. The title is: "Think You Can Teach? A Survival Guide For New Middle School Teachers". Available at amazon.com barnesandnoble.com borders.com xlibris.com The book covers from the first day of orientation to the end of year evaluation. Topics include
lesson plans, parent conferences, yard duty, evaluation, classroom management and more. I have a passion for middle school and wrote the book so that new teachers will be successful. The book is inexpensive, $10 for soft cover and will help teachers succeed. Thank you, Leon Avrech. legendleon@att.net

Hi all. I'm Chrissie, and I've been teaching 8th grade English on Long Island, NY for fifteen years. We just finished The Outsiders, and are currently giving Power Point presentations on a non-fiction outside reading book. Looking for some other 8th grade classes to collaborate with on a variety of topics, ranging from Six Traits to The Diary of Anne Frank. Excited to be here!
Hi all! I teach 8th grade social studies at PV Middle in Wichita, KS. This is just my third year of teaching. Previously, I spent 15 years in advertising and marketing and 6 years in fundraising for a university while I was going back to school to get my degrees in history and teaching. I LOVE middle schoolers though I had no thought that I would - my original goal was high school.
I hope I can learn from all of you and bring something to the table as well!

My name is Marie and I live and teach in Ireland. I am starting to teach 11-12 year olds in Sept for the first time in my teaching career. I have previously taught 6/7year olds and worked as a full time liason person with parents. I am excited to be part of a community of teachers to share ideas etc.

Hi eveyone,
I'm head of teaching and learning in a P-12 college in Melbourne, Australia and I would love to join in the discussion about what makes Middle School Fab for teachers and students. I'm currently part of a team investigating MS on an International level to try to redevelop our own MS pedagogy and structures... Any ideas??
