I am currently teaching Grade two at a new school in Calgary with a lot of barriers to using technology and inquiry for that matter. However I am also working on my doctorate in educational technology and next year I am taking the year off to begin my research. I am interested in talking to teachers about how they use technology to support socially constructed knowledge in themselves and their students. What is the relationship between technology and inquiry? Too often the teachers voice is missed in this sort of research.

Thanks for the invite Sue, and hello all.

I joined Classroom 2.0 because I have been doing a lot of work investigating Web 2.0 and its applicability in adult literacy. A lot of this came about as part of the work I did on a national project called Getting Online that investigated online professional development for adult literacy practitioners and created a website and a manual with some best practices ... www.nald.ca/gettingonline.

I also work with Community Literacy of Ontario (www.nald.ca/clo), and we're very excited about Web 2.0! In fact, together with a colleague, I'm delivering a Web 2.0 presentation to our board of directors this week. Earlier, we delivered an information session to folks from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, our core funder.

I'm always happy to explore Web 2.0 and to talk about it.

Thank you for inviting me to join this group, Sue. I am a teacher-librarian in Delisle, Saskatchewan. I've been teaching in this district for the past 10 years after working out in Vancouver and North Vancouver for 3 1/2 years and spending a couple years up North on a reserve. I am originally from Saskatoon, but I lived in Thompson, MB when I was in grade 3 through to the end of grade 6. I throw that in only because I see a few Winnipeggers in this group! I am thrilled to be talking to other Canadian teachers with an interest in Web 2.0 and integrating it meaningfully into schools. I have to say that although I was willing to try a few things, I was a bit of a hold out and did not totally embrace it until recently during a course I was taking towards my master's class through the University of Alberta. The course is called Exploration of Web 2.0 for teaching and learning. It was so awesome. It really changed my thinking about a lot of Web 2.0 and just how I viewed technology in education in general. Everyone should have to take it! Anyway, I'm pretty much a newbie to a lot of this, but I believe it is critical for my position in particular and to lesson the gap between where kids are at and where education is at. Since my course, I have a lot more confidence, but I have a lot to learn, so I'll just be the group sponge and soak in all your knowledge if you don't mind!

Hello, Sue, thanks for the invitation. I am located near Edmonton, Alberta and teach at the library school at the University of Alberta. I am a professional storyteller and teach storytelling, Comic books and graphic novels and Canadian children's literature courses for them and for the teacher-librarian program. All of my courses, with the exception of the storytelling course, are taught online.

I also teach classes for the education department in Canadian Children's literature and young adult literature.

I have written extensively on folklore and storytelling for young adult audiences and spend a good deal of my time visiting my daughter in Mission B.C. So, if any of you in that area are interesting in me telling tales or doing a workshop, just let me know.

I've just referred this "Mashup" to two women who I truly believe have messages which deserve to be "multiplied". They believe themselves to be non-techies and avoid Internet places like this.

This is an invitation to join an Elluminate conversation about educational networking and CR2.0 in CEET (Community of Expertise in Educational Technology).
