I recently presented on the above topic, and collected all of my recommended sites at one location. Please check them out; I'm sure there's at least one there you don't know, and I'd like to hear from you to know what other sites you're using for interactive writing.

What's great about these sites is that even the most tech-phobic teacher will be able to use them with little training, and even the most reluctant writers will be motivated to express themselves.

What do you do in your school to get other teachers on board with using technology in their subject areas?

Why did I check my email so late? Now, I'm wide awake and checking out all these amazing sites! I'm really excited about trying to use Storybird in my first grade classroom. I only have 2 computers in the class, but we will make it work somehow! I'm playing with Glogster, too. I'm afraid to check out the interactive reading sites list. I may never get to sleep tonight!!

Most of the teachers in my school are techophobics. We were given the opportunity to sign up if we wanted a Promethean board or Mimio. Only about 20 of our teachers signed up for them. Most of them didn't even know what they were. I got my Mimio earlier and I'm still playing with it. The kids and I learn something new about almost daily! In fact, we will probably write our first Storybird book together using it! I can't wait to go to work tomorrow!

Whenever I can, I try to remind them at that these kids are digital natives and that we need to reach them in ways that get their attention!! I'm 54 years old and the way I was taught will NOT work with these kids. They need the constant visual, audio, and instant feedback that technology gives them. Most of the first grade teachers feel that if it's not paper and pencil it can't be educationally relevant!

Again thanks for the interactive lists!

Glad you like the list! Wish I had as many for reading. Google "Story Cove" and I think you'll really dig that for your first graders as well when it comes to reading.

A friend responded last night at Interactive Writing Tools (see comments section at bottom). Be sure to check out her blog, plus the sites she recommends!

Enjoy!
