Hi all, I am strong supporter of integrating content and technology and i have created a lot of vocabulary videos and flash cards for Classroom use. These are simple and fun and entirely appropriate for middle and high school kids. Play with the WordAhead widget below and see for yourself!
For those working with non-readers, new readers, and developing readers, you may want to check out my site for Personalized Books, known as My Own Books http://www.educationalsynthesis.org/books ...
For each of these stories, the reader's name and gender are inserted, and the resultant story which can be either read online or printed and stapled into a book, names the reader as the hero of the story.
The series began with the History Hat stories in which the reader donned a magical History Hat and went back in history to meet a person or experience an event in history. The First Reader stories are about everyday events featuring the reader in simple 1-2 line per page stories. Some include a friend. The Alphabet Series features the reader and a named teacher/parent who go on field trips to find things that begin with various letters and build a Pictionary. There are other series with just a few stories.
The latest addition is a story about King Midas http://www.educationalsynthesis.org/books/Midas.html in which the reader help the greedy king to realize the folly of his ways. (the pictures currently on the story are not correct for ancient Greece, but better pictures are a-coming soon)
If the student reads the stories online, be sure to include earphones so they can hear the music that accompanies the stories. In some cases it takes a while for the music to download.
The next story I'm working on is back in the History Hat series to showcase the meeting between Phillis Wheatley a poet who was also a slave, with General George Washington to discuss the future of African Americans in the emerging American republic.
Kids create digital files at home, using KidPix, taking digital photos, and recording youTube videos. Shouldn't kids create digital files at school? Tell me about your technology-infused lesson plans!

I work in a rural middle school of about 650 students. My primary job is to serve as a curriculum coach for math and technology (in all content areas). We are purchasing different types of technology in an attempt to become a 21st century learning center. I am interested in ways to engage students using technology as a tool, with the focus staying on content. I look forward to working with this group!
Lynne H. thanks for the 2.0 tools. Very cool and I've got plans on how to use them already. I especially love the Voki. Anybody use googlesites? I can't seem to embed the voki in that application.

One "really cool, engaging way" to connect technology to science content is through the use of probeware, such as temperature and pH probes. Students can get so excited they don't even realize how much content they are using. And, I guess, "using content" to create solutions is the highest order thinking skill!
Used properly, the hands-on science experiment using probeware is an awesome tool!
Cheers,
Dennis

I handle the technology and marketing for our medical education materials to provide content to healthcare professionals. Our main webcasting technology that we utilize is Media Site Live.
Hi I'm running a nationwide SAT Video contest @ MIT. We're trying to get kids to make videos about SAT Vocab. It's part test prep... but a whole lotta digital media and public service :] Perhaps that is a similar angle can be applied to other topics? Check us out at http://www.BrainyFlix.com
Check out this article on Blooms Digital Taxonomy written by Andrew Churches. It is wonderful and should be read by every administrator, curriculum coordinator and teacher.
