I'm currently a graduate assistant in Pace University's Academic Technology department. My background is in production and I'm very interested in our endeavors with Digital Storytelling. At Pace, faculty use the basics (iMovie, Movie Maker), are there any schools/universities that use advanced software such as Avid, Final Cut or other software for their digital stories?

Photostory3 is free and useful. I also use Premiere Elements10.

Hello Michelle,

From your question it seems you are into video storytelling alone? If so, I suggest you try Sparkol, a whiteboard animation storytelling tool. They offer a free trial after which if you like the software you can purchase monthly or yearly. There are a few other whiteboard animation tools out there but this one is the best. The best part is that there are plenty of Sparkol tutorials on YouTube which you can leverage (Make sure you check the official Sparkol training videos).

Hope that helps!
