FACE IT – TRACE IT – ERASE IT Project
The purpose of this project is to pick one topic from the list of “Issues facing the World” inventory.
1. Pick a topic
2. Your teacher will be your helper
3. You will be connected to students in other countries that picked the same topic.
4. FACE IT: You and your team mates will use technology to create files that define your ISSUE and describe it so everyone understands what the issue is
5. TRACE IT: You and your teammates will send files back and forth to each other, using whatever method works the best, and you will research the ISSUE using the Internet. You will create graphs, charts, PowerPoint, and any other methods necessary to trace the history of this issue. You will tell us where it exists today and you will prove that you are knowledgeable about the topic by using whatever means possible. There are no limits.
6. ERASE IT: You and your team will come up with at least 1 solution to the problem. You will reveal this solution using digital video if possible. We would like you to put this solution on YOUTUBE.
7. Technical help will be provided by me and my assistants. We will answer any questions and guide you through this project. You will never be alone. Jack in Courier.docxJack in Gazette.jpg

How about posting the solutions on SchoolTube or TeacherTube or uploading to the ePals Video Vault? All of those sites can be viewed in most US schools. At this time, the majority of US schools block YouTube.
In addition, the Video Vault at ePals gives you a viewing audience of K12 students and teachers in 200 countries (27 million users visit the ePals site each month).
This sounds like a terrific project! I hope you post something on the ePals Teacher Forum so that you can get wider participation (600,000 ePals teachers from K12 schools in 200 countries).

Also, submit some results to the ePals Ambassador Contest next spring!
See the 2010 ambassadors.
Hello Dr. Oates. Please let me know when we can talk.
Thank you for your suggestions.

Jack,
Thank you for the suggestion of the FACE IT – TRACE IT – ERASE IT Project. I do believe that out of the 52 items on the list, issues facing the World, my students will find one that interests them.
As an aside, I used to live in Elizabeth, CO, which is about 45-minutes northeast of the Springs. I also taught ELA for grades 9 and 10, intro to journalism, creative writing, and was the yearbook adviser from 2003-2008 at Elizabeth High School for five years. My wife and I live in Texas now. I also used to work for a large Christian organization in the Springs as a ghost writer. I've been teaching since 2003 and enjoy it very much.

Hi my name is Liz Evans from Cincinnati, ohio. I teach at St. Susana in Mason, Ohio. We are interested in the Face It, Trace It Erase It program. I have 84 8th graders. Is it possible to do this project with that age group?
I would love to do this!! I am a high school business teacher and am looking to do a project like this is my 21st century skills course. I was also thinking the kids could possibly Skype, or collaborate via ietherpd...I would also love the kids to create their end product using a web 2.0 tool like prezi or glogster. I do like the idea of a digital video as well. I am very interested and open to ideas! I have 9th grade and my semester starts February 1. We are located in westchester county, ny.
