Collaborating for REAL Student Improvements!

As you visit/join this Distance Collaborations Group, you may want to give a few stats about yourself and your education position to let new/old group members know how they can collaborate with you.

Additionally, here's a terrific project where high school and college students can collaborate locally AND globally. There are infinite possibilities out there!

Bob here. I am a retired professor of neuropsychology who published research in the areas of learning disabilities. I am working with a non-profit, The Enabling Support Foundation. I am trying to catch up with Web 2.0 before it moves to 3.0.

My online experience has been mostly pre WWW -- Web -1.0
and that was distance learning, It feels good to see it still exists.
And I don't have to keep straight moodle and drupal.

My name is Rob. I teach and coordinate entry level and post-diploma paramedic programs at Georgian College in Barrie, Ontarion (1 hour north of Toronto on the beautiful shores of Kempenfelt Bay). I am using several technologies in the classroom from Wikis to Podcasting to Webcasting live. I am very interested in learning from others and in sharing what I have learned along the way.

BTW...if you're a high school teacher from Ontario and would like a guest speaker to come to your class virtually via Elluminate to tell your students about the paramedic field, I am happy to accommodate.

cheers

I'm currently trying to determine if and how dogs are being integrated into the K-12 classroom. If you are a K-12 educator: I was hoping that you might take 5-10 minutes to complete the survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=WzFKW5b4UN2e7ZePI1ZCTw_3d_3d

Also, if you could pass this survey link along to any other K-12 educators that you know, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much,
Vanessa

What about friendly competitions that can be done online???

I say this because that is what MIT is trying to do with our nationwide SAT Video competition. Granted, we also have corporate sponsors so perhaps that makes it different, but I think tapping into kids competitive spirits can be a good thing. Just a thought...

Dear colleagues,

We are working on a project on how we can utilize Web 2.0, not only Social networking, in foreign language teaching. Your contributions, suggestions, and ideas are highly appreciated. I will keep you informed about the progress. Please let me know if you are interested.

Kind regards.
