Collaborating for REAL Student Improvements!

As you visit/join this Distance Collaborations Group, you may want to give a few stats about yourself and your education position to let new/old group members know how they can collaborate with you.

Additionally, here's a terrific project where high school and college students can collaborate locally AND globally. There are infinite possibilities out there!

Are you interested in connecting your class to students in Morocco? Send me information on your class and what kind of students you would like for any collaboration and I can put you in contact with teachers in Morocco.

Hi There
I am an educator with 36 years of experience under my belt. I started as an art teacher and I am now the Head of Visual and Media art at Crescent School in Toronto Canada. For the past eight years I have been taking students to South Africa where we work with a school called the Get Ahead Project or GAP.

What I am looking for is someone who has experience in connecting students on a global scale.

I do use iEarn in my class in Canada and was wondering if there are any other web based groups you know of.

Dear Dr. Oates,

Thank you. Would you be interested in facilitating a webinar in the spring, as well? I am sure that my graduate students will enjoy your expertise. I will check my calendar but I am sure that I can attend on of the webinars that you list. I look forward to working with you.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Aries Cobb

Hi, Aries,
If you "join" the ePals Global Community and contribute a profile (of your spring class), then you can come into the community and try to find another teacher ed class to collaborate with....or a K12 class if that is your wish. If you wanted to search for classrooms in other places with interactive video as well as web-based email, that would be awesome.
I'm doing some webinars to introduce the ePals global community and also SchoolMail....our free teacher-monitored email system.
Here are the times/dates of future ones:
(all Eastern Standard time)
3:15 p.m., Monday, Nov. 16
4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23
4:15 p.m. Wed., Dec. 2
3:15 p.m. Wed., Dec. 9
4:30 p.m. Thurs., Dec. 10

If you would want another date and time, please let me know!
Best, Rita

I believe that the people who deny the concept of the distance learning as a viable source of learning must look into the numerous advantages it provides. In this age, when people are moving towards the technological advancements, online education is a very constructive step as online degree programs will generally provide more freedom to the students than traditional schools degree programs in terms of that online schools or colleges offer an online curriculum and give students the chance to work on their own from anywhere in the world, all they need is a computer and an internet connection.

More over due to the economic recession experienced through out the world and every day increment in the number of lay offs, the increased unemployment has diverted people back to education. Today education is all that counts, long gone the days when experience alone and many years of work in a field or company could somehow take you to the top of the ladder. That is why even employed people are seeking education through distance learning, so that they could get advance degrees while pursuing their jobs, to get promoted to higher posts in the organization they are working for

I am Bob Zenhausern and I direct the Enabling Support Foundation, a non-profit with a dual mission to support persons with disability and K-12 education. We provide resources for both groups and services to teachers of K-12 students. We can help you develop projects using Internet resources. ESF never charges for its services.
