With budget cuts and limited funds for ordering supplies for next year, I am reflecting on the classroom tools I value the most.

For me, I am thinking it's the chart paper I order each year, because my daily writing demonstrations are a HUGE part of our reading/writing curriculum. I also love our school's subscription to http://www.readinga-z.com/. It helps me locate supplementary reading and word building activities for my first graders.

I'm curious to hear from others. What are your most valued resources for teaching reading?

Books, books, and more books!

Bad news: I've paid for 90% of my 2,000+title library myself over the past 15+ years
Good news: the books are mine and go with me wherever I go! :-)
