I normally don't like "teacher" books - the ones that try to inspire with heartwarming tales of the joy of working with young children.

If you are like me and love kids and teaching, but have to laugh at it to survive sometimes, pick up 32 Third-Graders and One Class Bunny by Phillip Done. It is 238 pgs of 2-3 pg essays from a Mountain View, CA teacher, and the whole book can be read in a couple of hours.

The book was a gift from my boyfriend who read it while on a long airport layover. Because he isn't a teacher, he never understands why some things at school are funny, frustrating, worrying, exhilarating or exhausting. When he gave it to me he said, "Ok, now I get it."
