How students learn.

I need a few paragraphs from experienced teachers with regard to "How do you feel students learn?". Specifically, "What theory of learning to you agree with most (ie. Constructivist Theory) the If any one can respond here or on my page that would be a big help. (1 paragraph will be sufficient)

Students in my classroom get really excited when we I use constructivist methods. However, I believe there needs to be explicit instruction for "skills." The dangerous part (which I have experienced many times), is that when you set up a student to "discover" a skill, sometimes they will learn a skill incorrectly. When that happens, it is very difficult to re-teach. Students learn best with the constructivist method, but that does not necessarily mean they learn correctly, which is why here needs to be a balance between constructivism, and explicit instruction.
