I'm looking for ideas on how to utilize a set of iPod touches with upper elementary, specifically within reading and/or language arts. Would LOVE suggestions!

PowerPoint books work great with the ipod touches.  If you have the powerpoint app installed on the touches, then the students can read the books.  Hope this helps.

Can you point me towards a good PowerPoint app for the iphone/ipod? Thanks

I was thinking about these for my students as well.  I love the power point book suggestion.  I look forward to seeing that, especially since its visual.  We decided to purchase playaways instead because books are expensive and we did not want to deal with managing the loading of books.  In addition we are hoping they support our ELLs because they will read at different speeds.  Now that we have them their are drawbacks.  BATTERIES mainly.

Has anyone found a place that recycles old mp3s to use for audio books?

Thanks for suggestions, everyone. I appreciate them.

After a LOT of searching and weeding through stuff, I hit the JACKPOT with Tony Vincent's "Learning in Hand" site. This link has a video where Tony explains the possibilities of using handhelds for project based learning. WOW, am I excited!

Also, just his blog has TONS of iPod ideas:

I can't wait to check that out.  I was thinking of you today as I hit upon this page.  http://www.learningpage.com/  You sign up for free and there are 38 books that you can download for free.
Love to hear some idea's too, going to try and write a grant for ipods.  How many would be a good amount in a classroom?
