Since elementary teachers have special circumstances to deal with concerning the use of technology, I thought we could meet here to talk and to share ideas for 2.0 integration.
Here's a new 1 min. Call to Action video to boost parent involvement in your class/school this year - it includes a quick demo of VolunteerSpot. Please check it out. http://www.youtube.com/volunteerspot
I'm also leading a free webinar on Strategies for Boosting Parent Involvement (parent volunteering) on Live Classroom 2.0 at noon EST today - please join me and bring your suggestions and stories: http://live.classroom20.com/
Have you tried creating a Power Point that displays your topic and shows them how to use numbers and disntinguish place value?

Hi, I'm looking for ideas to integrate technology into a primary math unit on developing numbers and place value. I'd appreciate hearing what you are doing in your classroom. Thanks.

Hello,
I'm a grade 4 teacher in BC, Canada, and I'm enrolled in a post-grad. program in integrating technology in teaching. I am looking for ideas to integrate technology into math lessons (starting with whole numbers to 10 000 and addition to 10 000,) in order to better engage students in the lessons and increase their understanding of these concepts. Any ideas for sites, free programs, or lessons themselves will be appreciated. Thank you!

Leslie, I am not sure if you are part of Elluminate, but there were two interactive events about twitter that might be useful. The events: Twitter - Share'n Tell and Twitter - Revisited. Check them out, it might have all the information you are looking for.
There is a video on YouTube with students talking about using Voicethread. Students are standing in front of a pretty good looking bulletin board on that topic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pcvCts-QVo
I am in the process of setting up my own SNS. (I am doing it through grou.ps)
Is anyone familiar with grou.ps and know if there is a way to approve the comments my parents/students would post before it goes "live"? I teach 2nd grade so I am not worried about the same issues that affect older students and I am planning on letting parents know what the site is for (sharing our work, asking homework and learning questions etc.) and what it is not for (setting up play dates, selling girl scout cookies...:) However, I'd still love to monitor the comments before the rest of the parents/students can see them.
I was also wondering about the wiki component. Can you only have one wiki discussion on a SNS and you just have to change the topic rather than starting another wiki?
Thanks, Katy
Hi Patty, Last year I organized a weather project based on the book On The Same Day in March. We had elementary classes tell a little about their communities. Then on the same day in March we compared weather via a wiki page, skyping, etc. I would like to do this project again this year and others. Would this fit into your plan?
