Elementary School 2.0

Since elementary teachers have special circumstances to deal with concerning the use of technology, I thought we could meet here to talk and to share ideas for 2.0 integration.

I opened my day with Dan Meyer's, Coupon Comparison and finished with Hungry Teacher's, The More Money the More Problems.  My students and their parents are excited about these lessons. They are interesting and challenging.    My students are thriving off of this style of lesson.  I know I sound like a broken record, but Mathalicious, Dan Meyer, and Hungry Teacher are creating great lessons. The nice thing about these lessons is the that they can be used as openers, discussion pieces, extensions, lessons, or flipped class topics.  Try them out. Let me know what you think.

Again if you haven't tried 'The Frankenstein Project', give it a shot. My students loved this lesson. I can't wait to see what HT has in store for us next. Our school is also using the Dan Meyer 'Taco Truck' lesson to teach...

'The Frankenstein Project' was a huge success with my students.  I wish I would have waited a couple of weeks closer to Halloween. If interested, give Dan Meyer and Mathalicious a try.   These are three of my favorite Common Core sites. http://hungryteacher.com

For Robert - Reading Eggs is a website (free trial, then subscription) which has been very successful at my school.  It adapts to each learner and is designed to develop literacy skills, fluency, and comprehension.  I recommend you check it out and sign up for a free trial! Aloha - Leslie

Hey everyone! I've been teaching high school for the past 6 years (16-21 year olds). I'm now teaching K-2nd graders, so I'm very new to the elementary world, and looking for some resources. Specifically good ipad/iphone apps to address letter-sound recognition. Any ideas?
