Recently I've started looking at some of the free Webbased desktop applications available on the web. My main reason for this is the need to access my files and my students files from home as well as school, without having to leave a computer running 24/7.
While there are a few such apps in different stages of development, the one that really caught my eye is:
Coil Sparc Beta http://www.getsparc.com
And while it does have a host of features (not all of which are active yet) the big one for me was
50 giga hosting for members who join up during the Beta trial.
The application has a file explorer to enable you to find the files you wish to upload, download and it runs in the background allowing you to continue working while your files are uploading.
So this morning, last day of school this year for me, I was able to upload about 200 mega without experiencing timeout or computer lag.
Other similar systems I know of
