This year we implemented Google Apps for Education and used the Moodle SSO plugin, so Google Apps uses Moodle's authentication (which uses active directory) and a user is signed onto Google Apps when they log into Moodle.

It's been great so far. We are currently looking to turn on "Sites" (you can turn on/off each app). We had it off for a few reasons. We are also looking into adding Apps from the marketplace like Aviary. There are so many exciting possibilities that we can barely keep up with researching and piloting.

Our district is actually looking into migrating from microsoft exchange server for staff email to gmail as well.

How to create a Google Form (make a mini-survey such as Gmail address & names)
Go to www.google.com & sign in
Click on Documents in the top left corner (if Documents is not there, then click on More, then Documents)
Click on Create New
Click on Form
Create a title at the top of the page.
Fill in Question
Select question type (text if you want them to write something in, or multiple choice)
Click on Done
If you want to add more questions, click on Add Item at the top of the page.
When you are finished, click on Save on the top right.
To share, you can click on Email This Form.

How to get your Google Form Results: (Use this to copy & paste Gmail addresses to share your new Google Site & Share your Google Document Spreadsheet)
Go to www.google.com & sign in
Click on Documents in the top left corner (if Documents is not there, then click on More, then Documents)
Click on Gmail Addresses (this spreadsheet will now have the results of your mini-survey along with a time stamp of when each person filled it in)
-You can Copy & Paste these when sharing your Google Site & Google Document Spreadsheet, but you will have to add commas in between each address)

One of the first things that was demonstrated to me was in a google ap. We signed into the class by filling in a form (excel) that immediately showed up on the instructor's screen.
I feel that this would be a great way to gather information for my students that are mainstreamed.
Any ideas on where I could learn about this application?

Google Forms have helped me gather all of my students' gmail addresses. I have them submit them to me with their first and last name in a Google Form, and it automatically populates a spreadsheet. This is very helpful in the beginning of each semester and saves a lot of time. I've also used Google Forms when my environmental science class was gathering statistics on air pollution. Anyone else have ideas on how to use it?

I work at laTrobe universtity and I have incorporated Google docs int oa google site which is a nice feature. The site is http://sites.google.com/site/latrobesite/

Hey everyone,
A couple years ago I joined a group planning a charter school here in Indianapolis. When designing our technology infrastructure I wanted to put as much in the cloud as I confidently could. This led me to Google Apps. Apps has been there since 2007 and has not let us down.

We use gaggle.net as our archiving service ensuring that each email is archived. We have had issues with gaggle.net, however they have been improving as more folks use them for this purpose. They originally were a supplier of student email.

Our staff uses email and chat, docs, calendar, video and we are just starting with sites. Staff receives their email through their cell phones, can read and edit shared documents, and view and edit their calendar.

Recently, I created a sub domain and rolled out student emails for grades 4-7 as we are a K-7 school. Teachers create documents with students adding to them as they work on projects. At the end of the day students email a reflection to their teachers. Gaggle.net here serves as a filter for the student email notifying the administrator of possible objectionable words images.

Google Apps has been phenomenal and with the best people in the world working to keep our data working and safe, I can say, "I've got my people working on it".

I teach in a high school in a suburb of Philadelphia and we use Google Apps in the science department in multiple classes. We have our physical science, environmental science, and biology classes currently using them. Ideally one day students will use it for a portfolio to refer back to in future science classes. We also have our department curriculum on a Google Site as well. It’s very user friendly, practical, and helpful to a teacher new to teaching a particular course! I also have a personal teaching portfolio on a Google Site which was very helpful to have on interviews. Samples of student work, lessons, integration of technology, and real life application of concepts are all included on one Google Site.

Does anyone have any advise about setting up the Postini filters for the student emails? We are using it in a middle school, 6,7 and 8th grades.

We implementing Google Apps Education Edition 2 years ago in a school of 1000 students. It has been a great success !
