Mark,
You mentioned your school is in the midst of a 1:1 ratio with iPads, just curious how your building was able to get access to so many; grant, bond issue, etc.? Looks like there is some great info being shared - hoping to add to things here too!

Hi Everyone!! Looks like that interview yesterday (that I totally meant to listen to but then totally forgot about) generated some commenting!
Kendall, I use Unity3D to develop my apps, but its perhaps a bit out of the range of a beginner. However, the indie license is free & to publish apps off the free version is $300 for an iOS license. There is also a huge online community and lots of beginner-level tutorials and books if you're interested in learning it. But yeah, it's mainly for people who want to make 3D content/games, so, depending on your skill set and what you'd want to do with it, it might be better to investigate some of the other app-making software. I'll keep an eye out for anything that looks easy and straightforward.
If you're interested, this is the one app I have published :) It's for high school-level biology/science education, but could also be used for middle school.
HI Mark,
I tried looking for your blog, cant seem to find it at that address.
Hi Laura,
what software are you using for app development?
Does anyone else develop apps? If so, I would appreciate any hints on what to use, have seem some App Press and App Makr, but the publishing side of things is expensive. If you dont want to get into the Mac Xcode which is a little complicated, but learnable for non programmers.
Hi Mark,
will have a look at your blog and get back to you. Still feel like I am caught between getting into new technologies and traditional skills like hand writing as the Yr 12 students have to take a hand written exam, bit of a dilema.
