Hello Everyone,
My school has recently reived several new technology equipments in our building. For example, we now have a Mac Computer Lab, Mimio Boards, Digital Cameras, Flip Cameras, flat screen tv in each pod and I'm looking for ways that I can use this new technology with my young students. So, does anyone have any great technology projects that you do with kindergartners or young students? I look forward to your great ideas.

Jamie, So glad to see your posting. Yes, let's start sharing ideas!
Okay, here is one project I did with my kinder/first grade combo class. We brainstormed recess activities and each student picked one. They went out with a partner and took a digital photo of that activity and then they wrote a sentence about it. I had them record the sentence using iMovie so that it went with the photo. But you could print out the photos and make it into a book. I have nine digital cameras that we used.
Another teacher had students write poems about a part of their body and then take photos of that part. He printed out the photos in blank and white using a regular printer, not a photo printer and then posted the photo with the matching poem. Camille
Camille,
Thanks so much for those ideas, that is a great way to include the technolog into writing sentences. I think one thing I plan to try next year is a Fairytale Unit that involves using flip cameras. We had a 2nd grade teacher receive a grant for flip cameras and he loans them out to teachers. I think I will try using them by reading a fairytale to my students. Then with a partner during center time they will take turns recording each other retelling the fairytale using puppets. I will see how well it goes and if the students can handle the activity.
