I've recently done two videos to show to our students and thought I'd share them with others. They outline a process we're calling "Research 2.0." We break down the searching process online into three stages: search, collect, and evaluate.
The key piece is using a "bucket" document to collect your information, no matter the scope of the project. While I use Word in the videos, OmniOutliner works great, as does the blog feature within Moodle.
Feel free to adopt any of the ideas at your school and let me know if you find them helpful.
