Wow, a Mac education group! I got to get me one of these, ha... I've been Mac since going to the 1984 rollout held by Apple. It has been an exciting ride and I'm thinking it is just getting started. I teach a lot of grad classes based around Mac and its OS, apps, programming, etc. but my current love is the new iMovie'09 ..much improved... I had not moved from iMovieHD prior to this.. Happy to join and hope to learn lots from fellow practitioners... Dave

Been with iMovie since the inception. I really had to adapt to get my head around the complete overhaul. Thank goodness for 09. Anyway, I had the kids, 5th and 6th graders, create a DVD yearbook and we gave it to all the students. They had a blast. We are going for DVD 2.0 this year.

Be sure you're downloading the Mac version. Check the hardware and software requirements. BTW Macs have no competition when it comes to the needs of Special Education.

I read in the posts that they were using skype. I tried downloading that to my Mac, but could not get it to download. Anyone else having this issue.

I believe your students will enjoy using iMovie.

I had access to a mac laptop cart most of last year and my kids did wondrous things with iMovies and podcasting. Looking to expand our horizons this year. I'm looping with my students from sixth to seventh grade for English/History.

i am VERY excited that my school is switching this summer from 100% PC to 100% Mac. we will eliminate our 2 computer labs, to be replaced with 4 carts of MacBooks and 2 carts (4 class sets) of ipod touch.

we will have 5 days of training in august w/ apple's professional development people. i am spending my summer attending one-on-one lessons at our local apple store, and generally playing and planning in order to support my faculty and help everyone make the most of these new tools. i'm curious if there's anyone else here who's gone through this kind of transition. any words of wisdom to offer?

Hi all ... I want to invite you to take a look at a network I am starting as part of a project to involve teachers in exploring what real learning is. Tired of surveys and i think conversations are often more revealing of our beliefs as educators. REAL learning stands for REFLECTIVE ENGAGED AUTHENTIC LIFE-LONG, and we all know it when we see it. It's that look in a student's eyes, the engagement of the entire body, the passion and excitement over something new. And we all know all too well, the lack of real learning as well. Do you think schools by definition in their 19th century mass education model stifles real learning? Do you think technology might ironically be making real learning possible? How do you keep real learning happening in your classrooms? Check out the REAL Learning site and add your comments and ideas to the wiki journal, upload pix of real learning, and muse on your experiences. It would be wonderful to see the conversation and collected knowledge grow on this site.
