Blog vs Facebook

It appears that Twitter, blogging, and other professional learning networks are here to stay.  As educators, we owe it to our students and ourselves to become familiar with social media to enhance our instruction. Today’s students enjoy technology and interacting via all types of media; many of my students check Facebook and Twitter several times a day. Now is the time to adapt our instruction to target our current learners.  I recently created a blog for a course I am taking using the Google app Blogger. The app is easy to use and may be accessed from almost anywhere. I am considering creating a blog for my Allied Health adult learners where they can share clinical experiences. My co-workers and I have also discussed creating a class Facebook page, but I believe that a blog is more professional. Does anyone have any experience incorporating blogs or other professional learning networks into his or her classroom instruction? All suggestions and ideas are welcome.
