Spanish for Social Service Professionals

SPA 313: Spanish for Social Service Professionals will prepare social work and Spanish minors/majors for successful communication in the Hispanic social services world by building up on their existing knowledge and emphasizing practical, real-life use of oral and written Spanish. This course is designed to introduce students to essential social work terminology and language situations in common social service contexts, reinforcing strategies for understanding, interpreting, and responding to new information. This course will also help the student to be alert to the importance of cultural awareness and competence in working with this diverse minority group.
