I have recently read some article about Skype being used in the classroom for video conferencing, interviews, guest lectures, and etc.  Has anyone ever used or seen Skype being used as AT?  Do you think it is an effective tool to use?

I have not seen Skype used as AT, but I have seen it used at IT (instructional technology). It has been an effective method in terms of UDL and using different means of media, but I don't know how it could be used as AT? I would have to research that.

Here's an article about Skype and cameras being used in the room

I haven't seen Skype used as AT, however, I have seen articles on how Skype can be beneficial for students that are absent from school for an extensive period of time. The teacher could possibly Skype a student or even record their lesson and the student can watch the lesson from their computer so they when they do return to school they aren't confused with the material. They could also chat any possible question they may have about the lesson and the teacher can go back and answer those questions. Just some thoughts!
