In the past I've run workshops on game design to a range of youngsters, aged between 8-18. This activity can be used to build a number of skills, such as literacy , numeracy, creative and IT.
The results have always been surprising, most students opt to design board games, though I have had a few students who decided to develop an RPG or war game rules system.
I was wondering if there are any other teachers who have also used this type of activity in the classroom and how successful it was.
