This area is for fostering greater understanding between technicians and teachers. Building a positive team relationship between the two groups is critical for moving towards School 2.0.

I appreciate the kind words. This is a challenge when you talk about bringing educators and IT support together to agree on the functionality and overall integrity of the network infrastructure. Communication is a major key though. The more information the two groups can share the easier it becomes to make the decisions that benefit both. At the end of the day of course, you will be faced with two issues: (1) Does the educational need/ value outweigh the overall security and integrity of the network and (2) explaining how the total cost of the initiative should include IT support - afterall if the initiative requires support, it is not always the company that is called and the problem has to be corrected "yesterday" because of the impact on instruction.

This is so true. My goal has been to bridge a relationship between my department (instructional technology) and information technology. True confessions, I still have not achieved that yet. Maybe someone on this board could provided ideas.
Yesterday I participated in great webcast, Tips/Tools for Using and Managing Social Networks. Check out the show and listen to Marty, an IT director he had some good insight on this issue. I suggested to have a show on this. Keep your eyes on this page Classroom 2.0 LIVE!
