I recently completed a project for a course that required me to learn and teach a program that can create and edit video for the classroom.  I teach for a one-to-one district, and they are constantly trying to get more technology into the classroom.  Are there any suggestions on how I can use iMovie from the students' laptops into my band room?

Keep in mind that my middle school aged students aren't allowed to take the laptops home, so homework projects for 6-8 students go right out the window.  Thanks for any suggestions!

Matthew,

I have a few suggestions for project ideas:

  • Have students film a critique their performance.
  • Film various performances to document growth.
  • Demonstrate proper fingering technique, or some other "how-to" movie. (Play notes, clean instrument, etc.)

You don't necessarily have to spend a lot of time on editing (which can be very time consuming). One shot movies can work very well for the above projects, then add in some narration.

Let me know if you have any questions.
