VoiceThread Resource Page & Tutorials

I have spent the last two year completing a Masters in Ed Tech and on several occasions have been able to incorporate my research with the tools I was using in the classroom. My favorite tool has always been VoiceThread, and last year I wrote a grant that has helped obtain a District license for our schools.

This summer I completed a Masters Capstone Project titled "Supporting K-12 Teachers with VoiceThread Adoption" and spent countless hours compiling research and resources. Besides the 30+ page paper :) , the resulting web product is the following two pages:

On the first page you will find just about every resource imaginable on the internet for implementing VoiceThread. The page is designed to be an aggregation that will serve as a one-stop-shop for the teachers in my district, but certainly I hope others may find something useful. The links and files come from the work of many educators, and because of their generous sharing in the spirit of openness we are all able to benefit.

The second page consists currently of 7 screencast tutorial videos which I made on Camtasia (obtained through their Michigan Educator grants). Some references in the videos are specific to my district but otherwise are a step-by-step breakdown of all tasks on the VT platform. I will be adding new tutorials for adding students and managing classes/groups once the new Manage features are rolled out this month.

I would like to thank some people for all the work they have done with VoiceThread to advance its use for educators and whose work I utilized in my research & project:

Mark Carls for creating and maintaining this Ning group

Colette Cassinelli for creating and managing the VoiceThread4Education wiki, which continues to serve as the best place on the web to demonstrate to teachers the power of VT in a specific grade level context.

Bill Ferriter for the myriad of resources and handouts he has created and shared.

I have been impressed with Ben, Steve & the VT team for their continuously growing focus on education. They are a great case study for a sustainable Web 2.0 tool that has truly changed teaching and learning and I wish them the best of luck. I would encourage all teachers and administrators to look into what a Classroom or District account on VoiceThread could facilitate for them.

I just bookmarked this page as a major VT resource. Brad, thanks again for sharing all of this. I remember you asking questions (last year was it) about this. I can't wait to try to read through all of it and to share with our teachers! Oh yeah, thanks for sharing as well. It will help me a bunch.
