Hey all.  Just discovered VoiceThread as part of my coursework and are looking at ways to incorporate it into teacher professional development.  Would love to hear your suggestions.

Hello, all.  I've recently completed a series of VoiceThread-based tutorials for intermediate and advanced-level students of Spanish.  Please feel free to have a look and provide feedback about their design and usefulness.  Thanks!

Here's the link for registration for Friday's webinar "Reinventing Language Learning with VoiceThread" in case you'd still like to participate.

Hello all.  Michelle Pacansky-Brock will host a webinar on using VT in language teaching on April 20, 2012.  This is a free webinar, and all are invited to participate.  I'll be sharing about how I use VT for digital storytelling in an intermediate Spanish course, and another colleague will share how to use VT for virtual writing conferences in ESL.  See the following for the announcement and registration info.:

Does anyone know of an alternative way to delete a comment on VT besides the trash can icon?  I have a student who copied and pasted a long text comment on our class VT and now wants to delete it.  However, since the text was so long, the trash can icon doesn't appear.  Any suggestions?

Katie,

Here are some examples of Voice Threads:

Welcome to Jen's English Village

In this Voice Thread  students are asked to introduce themselves and tell what they hope to learn in the class.

El vocabulario de la casa

In this Voice Thread students are asked to practice vocabulary by identifying objects in a picture.

Agriculture

In this Voice Thread students are asked to identify which country is the exporter of certain crops.  (Click of large black arrow to see start of questions).

Using a Spanish-English Bilingual Dictionary

This is a detailed  tutorial about using a bilingual dictionary followed by comments by students applying what they learned.  However, because the practice part is limited to 2 sentences, the possible answers by students are limited.

Hi Jane, I don't know of a way to record comments on a Voicethread without being tied to a computer. You might be able to use an alternate method just to capture their comments about the conference using one of the mobile phone tools like Wiffiti or Poll Everywhere. They can record audio from cell phones with tools like iPadio or Podomatic but none of these would be directly connected to Voicethread. Just a few work-arounds but nothing that really does exactly what you want. Sorry. http://wiffiti.com/ http://ipadio.com/ http://www.podomatic.com http://www.polleverywhere.com/#

I am attending the Calif. Library Association/Calif. School Library Association conference this week and presenting on VoiceThread. For fun, and for an example, I'd like to create a VT on why people attend the conference, and have them contribute comments during it. I know VoiceThread was working on a mobile app, but that doesn't seem to be available. Do any of you have ideas of how I can most easily get people to comment without being tied down to a computer plugged into the Internet? I keep thinking there must be a way to do it from cell phones.
