Volunteer Recruitment Campaign Planning Meeting

On August 14th at 2pm the Tutor/Mentor Connection will host an open meeting to discuss ways Chicago programs and businesses can work together to increase the number of volunteers who join tutor/mentor programs this fall. The meeting will be held at Literacy Volunteers of Illinois, 30 E. Adams, Suite 1130. If you can attend, email tutormentor2@earthlink.net

If you can't attend, contribute to the planning, and the public visibility, by participating in on-line forums. Read Nicole White's blog and you'll find Links to on-line forums in MySpace, FaceBook, and at Ning.com. Nicole is a 2007 Northwestern University graduate, who is serving a one year Public Interest Program Fellowship with Cabrini Connections, Tutor/Mentor Connection.

At http://nicolecabrini.blogspot.com/2007/08/volunteer-recruitment-cam... you can read about the August 14th meeting. One of the benefits of these meetings is that it gives leaders of different tutor/mentor programs a chance to meet and share ideas. As the meeting ended on Tuesday people were exchanging business cards and phone numbers. This might not be happening if we were not hosting such meetings.

My goal is that people will introduce themselves here and get the same benefit of a "virtual introduction".

The goal of the meeting was to stimulate actions that lead to more visibility for volunteer-based tutoring/mentoring, motivating more volunteers and donors to support tutor/mentor programs in Chicago, and other cities to duplicate the T/MC strategy. Here's a presentation that illustrates this goal:
