Web 2.0

Today we are all familiar with the power Web 2.0 holds. In this new era of Web 2.0, it's no longer enough just to have a website, one has to have a leadership thought, insert themselves in a conversations with their users.

Hi Everyone,
I am an English teacher from Moscow, Russia, interested in using Web 2.0 tools in class.

I'm new a member too.  I do not have much classroom experience but have used many web 2.0 tools in my master level courses. I use twitter primarily as a PD resource and pinterest for lesson resources.  You can follow me @sansajon pinterest.com/sansajon/

I am a kindergarten teacher and am currently working towards my M.Ed as a Literacy Specialist. I am actually taking a course right now on instructional technologies and have recently learned about several neat Web2.0 tools/programs.

Wallwisher-interactive post-it notes (www.padlet.com)

PollEverywhere- for open-ended questions to specific polls to check for student learning or just to start an online discussion (www.polleverywhere.com)

Comic Life 3- templates for creating comic strips. Really neat for encouraging writing in an engaging way. 30-day free trial available (http://plasq.com/products/comiclife3/win)

Storybird-provides students with pictures from artists, illustrators and animators in order to jump start writing (https://storybird.com/).

I am interested in hearing more about Glogster. Has anyone used it?

Thank you!

Melissa

I am also new and have been lurking for awhile, Donna, but I just had to say I LOVE SCRIBBLE MAPS!  Thank you so much for sharing Jarred!

Joining to lurk until I become more proficient with many of the Web 2.0 tools.

Scribble Maps is great, so would Sketchast but I can't get it to work correctly.  Does it work for anyone else?

I thought I would share with you the PDF file of a workshop that I gave several months ago at the WBEA Conference 2011 in Seattle called "Googlemania and Web 2.0 Tools".  There is lots of information to help you out--contact me if you need some further help.  Googlemania%20and%20Web%2020%20Educational%20Tools%20Workshop.pdf   Enjoy!

I have just completed the Spring 2011 edition of the Western News Exchange Newsletter--24 pages of information on conferences, lesson ideas, feedback from the NBEA Convention in New Orleans and the WBEA Conference in Seattle.  Have a look at the newsletter and contact me with future articles, ideas, or comments.  Here is the link:  http://wbea.info/newsletter/10%20spring%20newsletter.pdf  Enjoy!

Bibkosh, the Knowledge Networking platform that allows users to connect their social and knowledge world announced its word-wide Beta last week. Do sign up and use it for your classroom projects! Would appreciate feedback and suggestions!
