Welcome! How old are your year 4's? I teach 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade (8-11 year olds) in Bellingham, WA. We have used wikis and blogs too. Lots to learn here, I would love to hear how you are using wikis and blogs!

Hi, Jane. . .sorry that it took me so long to reply. My husband and I have been on a motorcycle tour. I am looking forward to finding out more about blogging, and am hoping to find ways to incorporate it into my classroom. I need to find ways to incorporate technology into my classroom. Students love the hands-on way that I teach math and science, but I need to move forward with the way that I use technology.

Anything 'e' related is always a huge learning curve - I speak from years in the area and experiences that show, you never stop learning, changes are so rapid, keeping up is close to impossible on ones own especially and roadblocks often cause frustration - how many times have I banged my head on the desk, trying to engage other staff in worlds they need to know, worlds they do not want to know and in the end I end up being the village idiot - the one that comes up with mickey mouse learning????
Despite the downside, all things 'e' are my passion and finding ways to use them within learning environments, with learners a challenge with great rewards, if you can deal with the knockers.
We are blocked from everything, which does not help when lecturing in marketing, advertising and International Business - but one keeps going and either change will happen or I will have to move on to another place that values difference and is committed to the highest quality learning for its clients.

Looking forward to the journey with all in this network.

Thanks for filling out the survey! You've really made me wonder now about the similarities and differences between our two countries. I suppose it's something new for me to learn. I know a couple of teachers here who've spent a year in Australia in a job swap. Both rave about the experience.

Sorry it's been so long. We are just getting started on the school year and things have been busy. I have just put together a web page for my classroom and as soon as it's up and running I'm hoping to start a blog page for my students. I'm hoping that you can give me some tips, as I've never done anything with blogging.

Hi Jane,
I have been on a steep learning curve since attending the National IWB Conference on the Gold Coast last month. This was an incredibly motivating conference and I highly recommend it. Next year it is in Victoria so I encourage you to get there if you want to meet some funky IT people.
I have spent my entire school holidays on the computer, setting up a blog, exploring educational sites and working on flipcharts for next term. Very exciting stuff.
I would love to set up class buddies with your class but I anticipate a little resistance from parents and heirachy at school. I would appreciate any advice on how to inform parents about the educational benefits of Web 2.0 applications. I loved you class blog. Well done.
