About Me
I am a long-time educator in Eugene, Oregon.
I am the host of the Classroom 2.0 group http://www.classroom20.com/group/pblbetterwithpractice?xg_source=ac...

What occupies me lately? I wrote a book with coauthor Suzie Boss titled "Reinventing Project-Based Learning: Your Field Guide to Real-World Projects in the Digital Age" Suzie and I are meeting with lots of teachers and educational organizations to support new practice. We are excited about the promise of pbl and professional learning in the web 2.0 era, where important learning functions (collaboration, learning anywhere, many more) are made possible through a myriad of new and emerging tools.
I've just started another book on the topic of inquiry. I'll be listening deeply to my Classroom 2.0 colleagues to learn what how they foster a culture of inquiry and guide deep learning through PBL.

    Hi Jane, welcome from Germany!
Check my group DigiSkills (about digital teaching methods ... blogging, wikis, podcasting, webquests...) on Classroom 2.0 and feel free to join as well.
    Greetings

Hi Jane, and welcome! I think you'll find a lot of people here who are interested in what you're doing. Tom

Jane, it is so nice to see you and hear about your continuing leadership in education. I still show your Classrooms at Work video to all of my students.

Two years ago I asked you if you could "come out to play". Your answer was delightful. I regret not being able to pull something together that was worthy of your time.

Is your new book widely available? If not, where can it be purchased?

Again, I'm delighted to be able to reconnect. Welcome to Classroom 2.0.

Hey, there you are! I just sent you email.
Thanks for the reminder below, I was trying to figure out the connection, knew there had to be one.
The book is due in November (makes me crazy!) but you can preorder on Amazon!!

    Hi Jane :-)

    Hi, Jane!
How excited was I to see you here on Classroom 2.0. I'm using my blog here to journal about using digital tools and tech issues I'm facing as I mentor teachers through a tech grant here in Orange County. Thank you for all you taught me while in Orlando...I've been flickring and zooming and learning so much since you and Paula left.

    Best,
    Lee Ann

Great blog! You definitely have an interesting perspective on things with your unique background. I especially like the discussion on project-based learning. I had a great deal of success using the GenYES program (see 2.0 member Sylvia Martinez) in the middle school. It does take a little work to change from a traditional learning style but the rewards are incredible. Not only do I enjoy teaching more, the kids are obviously learning more than ever and intrinsic motivation seems to bloom once again in the heart of the learner.

    Cheers!

    Jim

Thank you for your generous comments and your donation toward the XO! I'll track your blog and hope to learn from you. I know about GenYES, will check out Sylvia's blog, too. Thanks, James!

Look forward to chatting with you at TappedIN on the 18th. I read your blog here and elsewhere. I don't see that I commented on your paper cranes, but I have seen some in CR2.0.
Honoring Sadako and the Japanese who died at Nagasaki and Hiroshima is very honorable. Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes was a very moving story, and I have never forgotten it.

    Jane:
Thanks for the comment! I have been following Monarch butterfly migration with various classes on and off throughout the years. First through Monarch Watch, Chip Taylor at Univ. of KS, and later I added the work of Dr. Oberman when she started Journey North. It is all good!
