I help teachers, schools districts, non-profits and religious institutions improve performance through the following:
1. ONLINE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSES
Regardless of which type of course, self-study or facilitated, teachers engage asynchronously with the course content, instructor and their peers. This keeps teachers in their classrooms working with students, reduces substitute teacher expenses and provides increased job satisfaction for teachers who have real-time, job-embedded and relevant staff development learning and resources available.
2. ONLINE PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITIES (PLCs)
The online PLC uses sound pedagogical principles that help educators create effective online communities that foster collaboration and learning across the district, grade levels and content areas. The most promising strategy for substantive performance improvement is developing the capacity for personnel to function as a Professional Learning Community.
3. ONLINE INSTRUCTION LAB
While schools are experts in delivering classroom-based content, teaching in an online environment is a new discipline to most schools and teachers. PLB offers the Online Instruction Lab as a set of staff development curriculum designed to prepare the tech savvy and tech challenged teachers alike to teach online. In the Online Instruction Lab, PLB online instructors guide and mentor teachers.
4. SYNERGY SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
The Synergy program is designed to increase student performance, especially on standardized tests, for middle and high schools. The core Synergy methodology was developed by a principal who became principal of a failing school and within six months met all 25 AYP targets and drastically increased student performance on state testing as well as classroom performance. He performed a similar turnaround in his district's high school the following year. The Synergy School Improvement Program can be implemented in one building or district-wide to create a sustainable school improvement program that is student-centered, teacher-driven and parent-involved.
5. SAFE SCHOOLS PROGRAM
Abuse in education is an issue that's making the news. Educating children in the 21st century includes providing children safe and secure environments in which they can learn. Through PLB training organizations can empower all of the people who work with and around children including administrators, teachers, staff, coaches, volunteers, parents and students with a basic understanding and knowledge to recognize child abuse and alert proper authorities early enough to minimize abuse. In essence, effective training creates thousands of trained eyes constantly watching for signs of abuse.
