About Me
I've been teaching for 25 or so years in various situations. I've taught about or with technology since 1991. I'm currently a Computer Resource Teacher for 10 schools in our Board.
Since I'm not really a techie (MA in Jewish Studies, McGill) my interest tends to the use of digital tools in the humanities side of the curriculum.....but I can talk tech when required.
Technology is cool.....but teachers are cooler.

Hello Sholom, I have also taught for a long time and depending on my work commitments, spend either a lot of time in this classroom or neglect it for a while. However, I keep coming back as I have made so many valuable contacts and love watching all the discussions that eventuate as they can be so valuable for what I want to learn or use in my classrooms

    Sholom,
To answer your question, I'm the Associate Director of the BJE in Los Angeles and currently doing work in the area of Communities of Practice as professional development tools. As you would imagine, this has led me to a rather intense immersion in Web2.0 and related emerging technologies. My interests have expanded into the world of ed tech and the larger issue of integration of technology into Jewish schools. I am looking for "fellow travelers" and appreciate any recommendations of people to learn from or directions to follow.

Hi Sholom -- I'd like to invite you to join a Classroom 2.0 group called Canadians Mashup. I'm trying to build a network of Canadian educators and bloggers. No discussions yet. I'm just starting out by trying to find where everyone lives and what they teach. If you're interested, please add me as a colleague as well.

If you add yourself to the map, please include a name or a photo of some sort. There seem to be a lot of unidentified people from unidentified places and the map is getting stuck on for some reason. The problem is that I can't tell from the members’ list which anonymous hits are real people and which were just false starts. The company does not differentiate members unless there is a picture or a name. Location only is not enough to help me know which entries are not real ones. THANKS!!!!

In regards to your querie in the top post: in my district the administration has to take on the IT people and begin nurturing the creative energies of all teachers in their classrooms instead of trying to make us all use the same tools in the same way. I think they really need to capture the other side of the teachable moment -- the one that occurs and when a teacher is ready with a tool and an idea to launch, help 'make it so'.
