I am a Media Arts & Text Ph.D student at Virginia Commonwealth University. My Dissertation Project is creating digital curriculum using Web 2.0 applications. I am also an freelance Videographer.
I have taught Print and broadcast Journalism on the Middle School, High School, and College levels.
Thanks, Gloria. It looks interesting, though I haven't had a chance to explore all its capabilities. I hope you are having a good summer. I am around if you want to meet up one of these days.
Hey Gloria! Long time since we've sat around the seminar table, eh? I tried to respond to your "Tagged" invitation, but when I entered "January 1, 2000" as my birthdate (for privacy) I got barred from the site because 13 is their minimum age...oh well.
(and I'll be 47 this November!)
I taught my first online course this summer and it was a real challenge getting students I've never seen to engage in significant discussion about our texts online. Though I like these new tools for distance learning, even with full streaming video, there is something irreplacable in face-to-face interaction that I think will always be beyond the grasp of technology.
After all...WE are the original 'technology' aren't we?
Hey Gloria,
I work with teachers in two K-5 elementary schools to integrate technology into the curriculum. One school does a closed circuit daily news show each day. The kids love it. They love podcasting, too. We've just started using VoiceThread.
Hi!
I'd love to talk about some potential projects, as well as maybe how to improve some of the ones I've already done with the kids. I teach 4th and 5th grade at a magnet school in Greensboro, NC. The kids love to be in front of the camera! I find that students retain more information if they do these kinds of projects.
Anyway, thanks for the welcome! Hope to hear from you soon! =)
