Topic: Energy/ Energy Conversion

The lesson was part of the curriculum of the 2nd class of secondary education/lower phase in Cyprus. During this lesson students were given the opportunity to discuss energy in general by giving examples of their everyday life. Later, the teacher [myslef] raised a question about energy conversion and 'green' energies and this enabled students to demonstrate self-understanding and misconceptions. Afterwards, the wind turbine was set up for a demonstration. The demonstration motivated students to pose a series of questions regarding Cyprus and the use of wind turbines.

This was valuable for students' understanding regarding energy conversion; however if more wind turbines were available the students could had investigated in more depth the use of wind turbines and the parameters determining their performances and consequently preparing a short project.
