About Me: Greetings community! I am a district technology coordinator for a San Diego County school district. I am passion about the use of technology and more passion about leadership. I am the author of the book Confessions of a Technology Leader: Understanding the Job of a Site Technology Leader and the host of podcast under the same title (iTunes).

I just read "Navigating Apple's Discount App Program for Educators" and saw a paragraph about your iPad project at Chula Vista. Has your district done anything with mass distribution of iBooks yet? If so, how do you handle VPP codes? The new EULA language spells out that VPP for iBookstore purchases is more restrictive that VPP for apps.

1. You agree to distribute Codes to individuals so that each individual may redeem the Code for an iBookstore Product using their iTunes Store Account.

2. You agree that you may not use a single Code to sync an iBookstore Product to multiple devices. For the avoidance of doubt, the iBookstore Product may not be used in a library-type lending scenario.

I just shared it with my district last week, so we're not quite to the point of using the Wiimote whiteboard district-wide. I'd like to see that eventually. For now, I've had at least a few educators (throughout the district) who are going to use it. I plan on working specifically with a couple of them to pilot the whiteboard.

I'm in the unusual position of being the district tech leader as an IT professional (my background) but also having some background in learning and now completing my M.Ed. I truly feel I live on both sides, and most times on top, of the proverbial IT/Teacher fence.

Social Network Sites For Middle School Students Should be Banned...Really!

Greetings Community,

I am begining to understand this Web 2.0 world (Finally!). I read various blogs discussing the marits of this new

world in education. Love the buzz in the Classroom 2.0 site. I am

shifting to see educational benifits beyond the Web 2.0 hype

(Sorry...some of it is hype). Part of my challenge is I work in an

elementary setting. K-6 students online is a very touchy subject in my

district. We are still embracing Web 1.0.
