For over 30 years I've been a writer, editor, speaker, teacher, strategist and "thinker" in the field of media literacy education. In 1977, I founded Media&Values magazine transforming it into the Center for Media Literacy in 1989. My last project there was to archive and cross-reference all 63 issues of the magazine (www.medialit.org) and co-write and edit the CML MediaLit Kit / A Framework for Learning and Teaching in a Media Age -- which I believe provides a firm pedagogical foundation for integrating media literacy and web 2.0 tools in the classroom. Currently I have developed an orientation seminar on Teaching in the 21st Century which I give as an hour lecture in graduate schools of education up to a five-hour professional development workshop. I'm also interested in exploring the use of Second Life both in my work and in my message.
I am a founding board member of the National Association for Media Literacy Education (www.NAMLE.net) and currently serve as treasurer of the organization which I also hope YOU will join so that together we can promote the transformation of classrooms everywhere through media literacy and web 2.0.
